Those who can remember the upper station of the old 4-person cable car at Skalnaté Pleso will be really surprised. The spaces where tourists used to embark and disembark the cable car have gained a completely new entertaining-education dimension. In front of the entrance of the Chamois Land indoor park, there is a mini gallery of Tatra animals. In the corridor, there are information boards with pictures of animals such as brown bear, Tatra chamois, fox, eagle, boar, owl, wolf and marmot. The most precious object of the kid´s indoor park is a museum exhibit of a real Tatra chamois. With his help, the Museum of the State Forests of the Tatra National Park in Tatranská Lomnica is inviting visitors to discover the Tatra fauna and flora. “The popular eco-mini park of the Marmot Land with sculptures of Tatra animals in the area of Skalnaté Pleso was joined by a new indoor entertaining centre with various climbing frames and slides. Its name – the Chamois Land is related to the nearby saddle of Lomnické sedlo, where these symbols of the Tatras can be spotted live. Our kid´s park offers fun and relaxation for all age groups – after hiking trips from Hrebienok, Mt. Veľká Svišťovka or walks around the tarn of Skalnaté pleso. The former cable car station suits educational purposes as well and children can admire one of the rulers of our grand mountains with breathless suspense here. No one will get bored in the Chamois Land – there will be sports games, competitions and a rich animation programme for all age groups,“ said Juraj Chovaňák, the marketing director of the High Tatras resort.

A children´s playground (10x8x3 metres) dominates the Chamois Land. It is opened every day from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is free of charge. Next to the playground, there is a relax zone with a café, which offers great views of the basin of Popradská kotlina. Small explorers have been discovering beauties of Tatra nature on educational tourist trails in the High Tatras and learning a lot about nature with a workbook of the Tatra Wilderness.
