Everybody who likes skiing from Skalnaté Pleso to Tatranská Lomnica can head for new slalom gates, have their time measured and stop in the finish area of a new Audi Ski Arena. Speed on the special section of the Čučoriedky slope with net fencing is measured by an advanced timekeeping system. The length of the measured track is about 400 metres. The timekeeping device with final time display is clearly visible and placed in the finish area which every skier has to pass. “The new product is ideal for those who take skiing seriously but also those who want to feel like racers on the piste or just have fun with friends by comparing times. The track with slalom gates is made to suit children, adults, seniors, beginners as well as professional racers. This winter we have opened the popular Fun Zone for families with children on the slope Štart východ again. There are terrain waves and one big banked curve. Easy snow obstacles can be surmounted even by complete beginners,“ said Dušan Slavkovský, the director of mountain resorts in the High Tatras.
Although the weather is showing its power again and is trying to awaken nature by a warm wave, ski resorts have enough snow and temperatures are just above zero. There is 50-60 cm of snow on the slopes of Tatranská Lomnica, 65 cm of snow in Štrbské Pleso and 40 cm of snow in Starý Smokovec. The snow conditions in the High Tatras are still very good. Skiers can use 19 km of pistes and 17 transport facilities – cable cars, chairlifts and ski lifts. From Friday 29th January, Hriebenok will be hosting the popular Tatry Ice Master event, i.e. non-official ice sculpting championships. 12 teams from various countries will be changing 90 tonnes of ice to works of art during three days.
