Sports performances will be awarded not only with great physical condition but also unique views of the Liptov region, peaks of the Tatras and the picturesque Horehronie region. The event called “Maximum joint kilometres on bike trainers in Slovakia” will be supported by an attractive trial show of Ján Kočiš – an eight-time Slovak bike trial champion and world champion of 2011. A new children´s cycling map – “With children on wheels”, which contains six cycle routes for children, will be launched on Mt. Chopok as well.
As the summer is coming, Mt. Chopok is changing to a tourist mountain which is accessible for everybody from both sides via modern cable cars. Tourists can enjoy a cup of deliciously smelling coffee and endless views of valleys from the terrace of the panoramic Rotunda restaurant and then a lot of fun on the way back. There are adventurous mountain carts available on Mt. Chopok for all age groups and three downhill tracks to choose from. In this way, the journey from the second highest peak of the Low Tatras changes to an unforgettable adrenaline experience. Mt. Chopok is proud to have the highest located bike park in Slovakia, which offers 6 tracks of various difficulty levels from easy to racing, tourist or downhill ones. There is 17 km of tracks in total at the altitude from 1,342 metres and higher, with a vertical drop of 970 metres. Bikers and families with children can get up the hill along with their bikes really comfortably – by 4 modern cable cars or chairlifts. This summer, a ´Kids Bike Zone´ is going to be opened in the area of Záhradky, where children can frolic to the fullest and surmount wooden and clay obstacles on balance bikes, kid´s bikes or tricycles. Advances cyclists will be happy about another new attraction – a Pump track in the area of Záhradky with an oval track and various banked and undulating curves built on flat land. One does not need to use pedals as the bikes are moved by “pumping” with hands and legs. Children and all adrenaline lovers can enjoy an amusing bungee trampoline at the lower Funitel station of Priehyba and try double or triple somersaults or back ones. When making a trip to Mt. Chopok, tourists can spend nice moments in boats or pedal boats on a lake in the area of Biela Púť in Jasná. A special family game in nature is prepared for small detectives who will be searching for a dragon treasure in the DRAGON PARK CHOPOK. To do so, one just needs to take a free workbook with a dragon story when buying a children´s ticket at a ticket office and a trip with 5 cableways can begin. Children will love the Dragon Park with eco climbing frames, a climbing wall, swings, slides and revealing secrets of a national park. The three-headed Damian the Dragon – the guardian of Demänovská dolina (valley) has nestled on the terrace of Rotunda. A copper bell that fulfils secret wishes is hidden inside his throat.
