“In our thoughts and spirit, we may be in PyeongChang but in reality, we are at home. That is why we are supporting Slovak sportsmen together, as one big team and celebrating this occasional sports festival in our Arena of the Slovak Olympic team in Jasná. It is an honour for Jasná to be the terminal station of the Olympic Road Show and the venue where the Olympic flame will be lit in the presence of various top-level sportsmen, Olympic winners from Rio de Janeiro – top-class athlete Matej Tóth, water slalom racers Ladislav Škantár, Michal Martikán, Olympic team members – ice-hockey goalkeeper Zuzana Tomčíková and kayaker Jana Dukátová. The symbolic ceremony with the Olympic torch and igniting of the Olympic flame in Jasná begins on the so called Olympia stage in Biela Púť on Friday at 5:00pm. The unique Olympic evening which will probably not happen again with such participation will be opened by actor Marek Ťapák. DJ Pablik will be there on Friday during the whole day to offer great music for all skiers and holidayers on the pistes and a fantastic après-ski party will feature various dance performances and saxophonist Helisax. To remember the 2-day show, a multidimensional GIGA selfie camera will be placed in the area of Priehyba to add some extra dimension to the unforgettable moments at the foot of Mt. Chopok with a unique XXL app. The app enables to make a picture of oneself along with the surrounding scenery within a distance of 111 metres. The symbolic opening ceremony in the area of Biela Púť, in the centre of the Jasná resort will be free of charge and feature the folklore ensemble SĽUK, the Maták sisters, the folk band of Martinka Bobáňová, the Anta Agni dance group with a fire show, the Horehronskí chlopi band and offer dance lessons for spectators. Once the Olympic flame is lit, the evening will be rounded off with a concert of the Tublatanka band. However, this is not the end of entertainment and celebration of sport in Jasná. We will continue in the Happy End club with the Heľenine oči band, DJ East Luke and Anta Agni dancers,” said Sylvia Artzová, the marketing director at Tatry mountain resorts, a.s.

The symbolic opening ceremony will also bring a bit of fashion to Jasná – during a musicdance performance with audiovisual accompaniment and presentation of decorative folklore headbands (“party” in Slovak). These historical and original elements of festive hairstyling are introduced by the project called Party in the 21st century, which is meant to appeal to present-day people in a modern form and to remind them how rich and manifold the cultural heritage of Slovakia is. “The Slovak online environment will be all about sports disciplines and the Olympics too – via the most popular Slovak youtuber GOGO, who will present his traditional and typical vlogger game on stage before the ceremony,” concluded Mrs. Artzová.

On Saturday, people in Jasná can visit sports zones with Olympic disciplines such as slalom, biathlon, curling in the area of Priehyba from 9:00am to 03:00pm. Skiers can add a slalom race to their traditional Saturday skiing fun or try the above mentioned Olympic disciplines at the foot of Mt. Chopok. Liptov bandits are looking forward to the day après-ski entertainment with DJ EKG and dancers in Priehyba as well. The Saturday evening will end with a special Olympia party in the Happy End music club with the Polemic band and DJ East Luke.

From Sunday 11th February to 25th February, an Olympic park with an enclosed luge track, a ski track with time measuring and a renewed snow park will be available in the area of Brhliská during the opening times of the ski resort. Fans of sports broadcasting can enjoy comfort at the Crystal bar in Biela Púť and watch live what is going on in PyeongChang. An exposition of Olympic artefacts, historic ski boots and skis but also present-day ski equipment of Slovak skier Petra Vlhová has been installed at the Grand Jasná hotel in cooperation with the Slovak Olympic and sports museum.

Over 35 ski pistes with very good snow conditions will be opened during the Olympic weekend. There is from 30cm to 50 cm of snow on the slopes. Transport to the resort of Jasná will be regulated like it usually is at weekends, ski busses and other extra transport will be added to support it.
