Boating on Štrbské pleso: According to historical documents, a pier and a boat shelter were built here in 1880 already. The first boat port was built on the bank of Štrbské pleso in 1921-1946 and there were about 60 boats. Boating was most popular in 1950s. The season would last from May to the end of October. Inside the boathouse, also called “swimming pool”, there was a cosy area to have a sit-down, with beautiful views of the tarn surface and Tatra peaks around. Maximum depth of the tarn is 20-26 m, the total area is 19.76 ha and the tarn is located at the altitude of 1 345 m. The tradition of boating was restored on 5th July 2008, after 25 years.
