The snow conditions are still great and suitable for spring skiing, the interest of skiers is huge and the pandemic restrictions have been loosened, which means the ski season can be longer in the High Tatras and in the biggest Slovak ski resort – Jasná. Cable cars will operate too and based on the latest decree, 1 person or members of 1 household can travel with 1 car.

Cable cars in Jasná are going to operate both in the north and the south from Tuesday 4th May and can be used for skiing as well as for hiking in the regions of Horehronie and Liptov. “The resort entrance points in Biela púť and Krupová will be opened, which not only links the south with the north, but also gives skiers the chance to enjoy still perfect conditions in the highest located areas of Mt Chopok. On the southern side, we plan to groom the Zadné Dereše piste and the connection to Kosodrevina, in the north, the trail between Mt Chopok and Konský grúň shall be added to the opened pistes,” informed Jiří Trumpeš, the resort manager. The following cable cars are going to operate in Jasná from 4th May: Priehyba – Chopok, Krupová – Kosodrevina, Kosodrevina – Chopok, plus the Jasná – Priehyba funicular, the Biela Púť 4-seater chairlift and the Jasná – Luková 4-seater chairlift.

The Štrbské Pleso resort in the High Tatras stays open too, with the following chairlifts at disposal: Solisko Express, Furkota and the Junior ski lift.

A lot of fans’ attention is focused on iconic Lomnické sedlo (saddle) and the highest located piste in Slovakia. “We would like to open the piste very much, but have to wait how much expected warm weather affects the natural snow in the saddle at the weekend. If the conditions are good enough and the snow can be groomed, the plan is to open the piste on Tuesday 4th May,” said Dušan Slavkovský, the resort general manager. If Lomnické sedlo cannot be opened, the cable cars in Tatranská Lomnica are going to start operating again on Friday 7th May 2021. The cable car of Mt Lomnický štít is going to be available from the same date as well. Mt Lomnický štít tickets will be sold only to 1 family or members of 1 household due to pandemic restrictions. The specific terms and conditions are published on: www.vt.sk.

The following cable cars should be opened in Tatranská Lomnica if the resort starts operating: Tatranská Lomnica – Štart, Štart – Skalnaté pleso, Skalnaté pleso – Mt Lomnický štít (from 7. 5.), the Skalnaté pleso – Lomnické sedlo 2-seater chairlift (only for skiers now, available for tourists after 15.6.). The funicular between Starý Smokovec and Hrebienok, where the Tatra Temple of Ice is still opened, will be operating too.

All cable cars and ski lifts will be available based on the interest of clients and the snow conditions. The latest updates are available on the resort websites: vt.sk, jasna.sk or in the Gopass app.
