TMR will start to operate the resort as early as this winter season. During the 10-year period it plans to invest CZK 600 mil. in the Ještěd resort. The annual rent will come to CZK 1 mil. and will be increasing according to the agreed rules related to the resort investments.

“We are glad that after lengthy negotiations the town of Liberec appreciated our professional know-how and put its trust into the TMR Company, which is a respected Central European player in mountain tourism, and from now on the ski resort Ještěd is a part of it. Our entry into the new resort is important for us not only from the geographical point of view and as expansion of TMR activities, but also as an opportunity in skiing in urban resorts with great access. We see a great potential of growth in the resort with the right management and a strong investment background. After the modernization we will provide active skiers from Liberec and the surrounding area with a high-quality resort also thanks to our synergies from TMR resorts. At the same time I believe we will enable to create a training base for sports skiing and raise demand for skiing as well as development of new talented skiers,” commented Bohuš Hlavatý, Chairman of the Board of Directors and TMR’s CEO.

Proposed investments in the first phase include a new ski trail, Skalka, which is a part of the current land use plan, expansion of original trails, and change and expansion of snow making. The plan also includes lighting of the new trail for night skiing, two new chair cableways, renovation of the self-catering restaurant, and its expansion. The central parking would also undergo a complete renovation with a new base for a ski school, a ski rental, a kids’ zone with a moving belt, and a souvenir shop. The bob sledge trail for non-skiers with night lights and evening operation has a great potential, as well. Once the modernization is complete, an increased demand for the ski resort, related popular sports events and marketing events is expected. TMR wants to take advantage of the great access to the resort from the direction Prague – Mladá Boleslav – Liberec, as well as via public transport from Liberec with a stop close to the bottom station of the cableway. The summer season at Ještěd will include viewpoint trips by a cableway up to 1,012 m a.s.l., hiking, a bike park, a scooter rent, and building of interesting attractions and kids’ playgrounds.

The Ještěd ski resort – has a long sports history and tradition of an urban resort with a unique client target area. Its all-year operation is popular also thanks to great access in the northern Czech region. The resort itself has three cableways and four lifts with the transportation capacity of 8,600 persons/ hour. It includes 20 ha of mostly black-red (difficult) unevenly wide ski trails that are connected with easier blue-red ski paths. The resort lacks automatic snow making, and the snow making output is currently not sufficient. More info at www.skijested.cz
