This is the fifth time that the High Tatras will witness a special “searching expedition”. A small detective agency is run here by children who will set out for their journeys with a special workbook in their hands – a guide to the Tatra Wilderness. While travelling around popular tourist destinations with cable cars and chairlifts, they will meet four cute animal friends. Small investigators will test their keenness by solving the mystery of a lost letter of Pirin the Chamois near the tarn of Skalnaté pleso. They will learn the story of an eagle who will tell them the secret of the Wheel of Truth on top of Mt. Veľká Lomnická veža. And in a kid´s park called Chamois Land, they can play hide-and-seek with their new friends and find the hidden word they are looking for. Kubo the Bear will invite them to enjoy a pancake adventure or visit Hrebienok and walk along the main tourist trail up to the Waterfalls of Studený potok (brook). They will solve the Legend of three wells of Mt. Slavkovský štít and might even spot the precious Maraena whitefish in the tarn of Štrbské pleso, which Jurko the Marmot likes to call Biba the Fish. “The main point of this summer concept is to discover the Tatras in an entertaining and modern way. Every year, there are lots of kids who fall for the Tatra Wilderness – an interactive eco-friendly family project, which uncovers secrets of the most popular tourist spots and localities. I am happy that the Tatras are coming closer to the children and the Tatra Wilderness makes small discoverers train their brains. After all, there have been more than 100,000 of them already,“ said Lenka Maťašovská, the executive director of the Regional Tourism Organisation – Region of the High Tatras.
Apart from solving the Tatra riddles, there is a lot more to enjoy for children but also for their parents. Attractions of the Tatra Wilderness invite all adventurous souls to take a ride by mountain carts, have a special dose of fun on a trampoline, with electric scooters, while boating on the tarn of Štrbské pleso or discovering attractive cycle routes in the Tatras. A special daily animation programme will begin on 1st July under Mt. Lomnický štít and will be free of charge. The Fit & Happy High Tatras has been prepared for all fans of sport, workshops or meaningful discussions with nature conservationists, alpine load bearers, historians and other personalities of the Tatras.
