As for the resort of Jasná, snow is being made on the slopes above the altitude of 1,600 metres on the northern side of Mt. Chopok now. There are 40 snow lances producing snow on slopes no. 1c and 1b. Snow making in the resort of Štrbské Pleso is scheduled for Saturday evening, slopes of Turistická, Interski and Spojka are planned to be the first ones. In good weather, with the air humidity required and temperatures below zero (min. -3/-4 ˚C) lasting for several consecutive days, the resort of Tatranská Lomnica will start making snow intensively as well.

Operators of mountain resorts in the High and Low Tatras are doing everything to prepare a good snow cover on the slopes and launch this winter season successfully.

The winter season in the resort of Jasná will be launched on 6th December 2014 with the well-known Winter Music Opening – a big party that celebrates winter, this year in James Bond style. For more information about the event, please click HERE. The High Tatras will begin this winter season on 29th November 2014 in a non-traditional way – with Slovak TOP tennis players. A unique tennis tournament will take place on top of Mt. Lomnický štít at the altitude of 2,634 metres. Local Tatra people hope that the upcoming winter season will be successful following big investments that have been made so far and moved skiing in the Tatras to a higher level, and that a rich cover of natural snow will help make all visitors happy and satisfied. The Tatra Temple of Ice will be built in the High Tatras again, which means the area of Hrebienok will change to a beautiful kingdom of ice after 18th December 2014. A multiple-day event on the slope called “Snowster” is scheduled for January in the resort of Jasná.
