Although summer is approaching its climax and the first half of school summer holidays is over, the number of visitors who have come to the northern side of Mt. Chopok in the Low Tatras was higher by 44% when compared to the previous year. On the southern side of the second highest peak of the Low Tatras, it was a 13% increase. The rising turnout led to a rising turnover in the area. High investments were made in the resort of Jasná Low Tatras and its new Funitel and Twinliner cableways in the winter, which enabled tourists to enjoy the summer at Mt. Chopok even more. Most visitors come from Slovakia (56%), the Czech Republic (25%) and Poland (11%). The summer at Demänovská Dolina (valley) is full of activities and new attractions. It is obvious that visitors coming to mountain resorts like discovering the region of Liptov and its beauties on bikes as well because the new cyclo&aquabus has been used by 900 cyclists already. New pedal boats and boats on a lake at Biela Púť are preferred too.

Mountain resorts in the High Tatras have enjoyed the same popularity as in the previous year. Holidaymakers from Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Poland like coming to the Tatras to “cool down” and relax for a while, far from large urban agglomerations. Peace they find here when hiking in the mountains is different when compared to crowded seaside resorts. A holiday in the Tatras offers great experiences and pleasant moments. Starý Smokovec and Hrebienok were the most popular resorts with tourists in the Slovak grand mountains; the turnout rose by 11% when compared to the previous year. Hrebienok is a preferred starting point for various walks and hiking trips to valleys of Malá and Veľká Studená dolina or Mt. Slavkovský štít.

Aquaparks, which are in the glare of publicity too, offer a lot of fun, water attractions and relaxation in beautiful scenery of the Tatras. The first month of summer holidays was very positive for the Aquapark Tatralandia, whose turnout rose by 13% when compared to the previous year.

Summer in the most popular resorts is not over yet but continues with a very attractive programme.
