Those you are spending the Christmas holidays in fresh mountain air, on cableway trips or on skis can be happy about a 30-60 cm-thick snow cover on Mt. Chopok and good to very good snow conditions. The ski resorts in the High Tatras are happy to welcome skiers on 40-50 cm of snow, 10 opened ski slopes and 14 km of great winter fun. Tatranská Lomnica has opened the piste of Skalnaté Pleso from the altitude of 1,751 metres. Štrbské Pleso is the only ski resort in Slovakia where all pistes are opened. A daily aprés-ski programme begins in the Tatras on Christmas. Friday evening (25th December) guarantees piles of adventures and good mood. Lovers of ski touring can look forward to an organised night ski touring trip in Jasná, which is ideal also for beginners. Experienced guides will accompany all participants along a 1,200-metre-long track with a vertical drop of 312 metres. And to make the night touring experience complete, the attractive additional programme includes demonstrations of digging out avalanche probes and working with avalanche transceivers. On 26th December, the first skiing enthusiasts can enjoy the euphoria of early morning skiing before the cableways begin to operate officially. Fresh Track is getting more and more popular with skiers who do not hesitate to leave their warm beds and set out for untouched ski slopes early in the morning. Being active in the morning, enjoying carving turns with a professional guide on all types of ski pistes and a rich breakfast at the altitude of 2,004 metres in the Rotunda restaurant means a real challenge for good skiers which is available every Tuesday and Saturday from 7:30 to 9:00am. 26th December is also the first day when fans of flawless culinary experiences can take their taste buds high to the clouds. During the Tatra Dinner of Emotions in the stylish Von Roll restaurant under Mt. Chopok, they can experience the magic of delicious specialities prepared with love and passion for food. There is nothing better in the mountains than an exclusive 5-course evening full of tastes in the company of the closest ones. The altitude of 1,670 metres, transport with a luxurious grooming machine, candlelight, a crackling fireplace and a beautiful view of a starry sky guarantee unforgettable moments. Every Friday and Saturday from 14:00 to 17:00, there are the best aprés-ski parties prepared in the bar of Biela Púť, in the Champagne bar of Happy End and the aprés-ski bar of Srdiečko with special Aprés-ski music holidays. From 26th to 31st December, families with children can enjoy sledging in the locality of Brhliská. The Fun arena – Maxiland in Biela Púť will be available from Saturday (27th December) between 18:00 and 21:00 with 20 sledges, entertaining fun tools such as snowbikes, bobsledges, glider sledges, snowscoots and great music combined with a genuine winter atmosphere. Skiing continues on the lit piste of Biela Púť from Sunday (27th December) also in the evening every day between 18:00 and 21:00. Unique Full Moon Dinners will be held on top of Mt. Chopok right under a starry sky at magical full moon on 24/1, 22/2 and 23/3. A delicious 5-course menu is served at the altitude of 2,004 metres under a beautiful starry sky and accompanied with a music performance. Skiers who feel like warming themselves up after a freezing day on the slopes can discover a place where salty sea water is combined with a tropical climate and the murmuring of sea waves creates a holiday-like atmosphere. The aprés-ski programme in the High Tatras begins on Sunday 27th December with a Christmas concert of the Nebeská muzika band and their string big beat in the Tatra Temple of Ice in Hrebienok. The Grandhotel of Starý Smokovec offers a great way to recharge one´s batteries with tea at five and afternoon snacks in old English style every Monday. Parties in ski boots begin in the aprés-ski bar of Tatranská Lomnica every Friday and Saturday at 14:00 and entertainment continues with snow attractions such as ski foxes or snowmobile trailers on a 2-km-long night slope from 17:00 to 20:00. The most romantic evening – the Sky of Stars Dinner begins in Skalnaté Pleso on 30th December. Night transport with a snow groomer and a cable car to the Panorama restaurant in Skalnaté Pleso, pleasant saxophone music and a top-class 5-course menu guarantee a truly unforgettable experience. Tatra Dinners of Emotions are served in the Štart restaurant at the altitude of 1,173 metres from 1st January 2016. A new Grand Snow Taxi groomer will be transporting fans of culinary art to enjoy a 5-course menu at candlelight every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
