The resorts will try to produce enough artificial snow for the Tatra people to welcome the winter season on skis this weekend unless the temperatures rise dramatically. Everything will depend on the weather, temperatures, air humidity, frost, wind speed and direction. The resort of Jasná in the Low Tatras has started to make snow on the slopes of Biela Púť, Koliesko, Priehyba, Luková – Chopok and Priehyba – Záhradky. There are 100 snow makers in total to help the snow. The resort of Štrbské Pleso has been using 16 snowmaking guns on the slopes of Interski and Esíčko. If temperatures fall at least to -3 or -4˚C, Tatranská Lomnica should start with snowmaking as well, on the slopes of Buková hora I., Buková hora západ and Štart západ.

The Winter Music Opening in Jasná, which is scheduled for 30th November, will open the ski season again and host attractive music guests such as Tina, Majk Spirit, Celeste Buckingham and many others. For more information please visit: http://www.jasna.sk/aktivity-a-eventy/eventy/winter-music-opening-30112013/. Skiers can look forward to a new 15-people cable car in the resort of Tatranská Lomnica, which will operate between mid-station Štart and Skalnaté Pleso from mid December. However, there are several load tests and final inspection to be done until then. Load tests are in progress in the resort of Jasná as well – on a 6-people chairlift with blue bubbles in the area of Lúčky. And a new scenic restaurant, Rotunda on top of Mt. Chopok is about to be completed soon. Local people believe this year´s winter season will be successful – with investments that have been made so far and attractive events that are planned, e.g. Tatra Christmas, Nordic Junior Ski Championships in Jasná or Tatry Ice Master, a popular ice sculpture festival in the area of Hrebienok.
