The summer holidays are knocking on the door so it is high time to decide where to make trips. The High Tatras are an ideal family destination. From Saturday 27th June, a variety of summer attractions will be joined by the well-known Tatra Wilderness, which is introducing 7 adventures in nature with animal friends as personal guides, 5 free time brain teasers and a competition with attractive prizes for the whole family. “More than 125,000 fans have joined our eco-friendly project of the Tatra Wilderness during five summer seasons. The Wilderness and its tempting stories have been attracting parents and their children since 2010, when small investigators were enjoying the first big adventure and started to discover Tatra nature in a non-traditional way. A special eco-mini park called Marmot Land, located in the area of Skalnaté Pleso, has been part of the project for a few years as well. It contains unique wooden life-size sculptures of Tatra animals and an educational trail around the tarn of Skalnaté pleso,“ said Juraj Chovaňák, the marketing director of the High Tatras.
The journey with 7 stories begins at the aprés-ski bar in Tatranská Lomnica with the Pancake adventure of Kubo the Bear, continues in Lomnické sedlo (saddle) with The story of an eagle and a code in a mysterious Wheel of Truth and invites small detectives to find the Lost letter/puzzle of Pirin the Chamois in the area of Skalnaté Pleso. The meeting with Tatra animals changes to an amusing hide-and-seek in the children´s park of the Chamois Land. On the way to the waterfalls of Studený potok (brook), children will cover the The story of Karol, who wanted to become a king and enjoy a Visit from Tatra forests when walking along the main tourist trail from Skalnaté Pleso to the waterfalls of Studený potok. The secret of Štrbské Pleso is hiding an answer to the question why is the location of the upper chairlift station called Solisko (Salt lick). The Guide to Tatra Wilderness aims to introduce the Tatras to children in an amusing way. Workbooks of small Tatra discoverers can be purchased in the High Tatras at ticket offices of lower cable car and chairlift stations, in information centres and Tatry Motion shops. When discovering nature and life in the mountains in an educational way, children and parents can relax in a beautiful alpine environment and have fun in the biggest children´s indoor park called Chamois Land in Skalnaté Pleso. A Mini Tatralandia park with mini cars and a formula circuit located in Štrbské Pleso under the ski jumps is looking forward to welcome the smallest visitors as well.
New in this summer is a thematic children´s playground built at the lower cable car station in Tatranská Lomnica from old wooden reels that were used for cable car haulage and auxiliary ropes in the past. There are climbing frames with slides, a swing and a carillon on the playground. Educational trails will be leading families with children to the most beautiful Tatra localities, and popular events such as Bear Days in Hrebienok (30/7 – 2/8/2015) and Marmots at Pleso (22/8 – 23/8/2015) cannot be missing either of course.
Once the summer begins, a special daily summer programme under Mt. Lomnický štít called FIT & HAPPY HIGH TATRAS will be launched as well. From 1st July, there will be Tatra workshops for children in the Chamois Land every Monday, Yoga under Mt. Lomnický štít for fans of old Indian exercises every Tuesday, a Nordic walking crash course at the Marmot Land in Skalnaté Pleso on Wednesdays,  discovering of nature in a non-traditional way – with a TANAP ranger every Thursday, Children´s climbing competitions in the indoor fun park of the Chamois Land in Skalnaté Pleso every Friday, adventurous Digital Geocaching around the tarn of Skalnaté pleso on Saturdays and a special Chamois Olympics in the Marmot Land in Skalnaté Pleso on Sundays.
