“This year, we have chosen a location with best tracks for the Slovak Downhill Cup again. The resort of Jasná offers excellent cycling tracks that have been redesigned during this season and this increases the level of the event considerably. I am happy that we have managed to restore and keep the tradition of such a special and rare sports discipline. We hope Jasná and its bike tracks will help us become part of the European Downhill Cup in 2015. We always try to attract not only professional domestic bikers and bikers from the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland, but also spectators who can enjoy a really non-traditional experience with us. Mountain cycling and downhill races held in a beautiful environment can motivate people to take up this extreme but beautiful sport which we are trying to make popular. Bikers need to have a clear mind, follow and respect instructions and rules of the so called Green Code but mainly protect their health and anticipate situations. I hope that names like Martin Knapec and Roman Dubský will attract the wide public and people will come to Jasná to support this great adrenalin event,“ said Tomáš Vrbovský, race director.
The Slovak Downhill Cup 2014 will have two parts: qualifying round and finals. The downhill starts in the area of Rovná Hoľa (1,491 m above sea level) and continues down in the direction of Záhradky along the popular Rocky Face DH track. The total length of the track is 1,850 metres and the vertical drop is 463 metres. Those who prefer watching adrenalin on wheels to practising it can use reduced-rate day tickets to enjoy a great view of the whole track and the racers from comfortable chairlifts.
